Maintenance Report

The Gannet was boarded at 2.00pm and after the engine was checked the mooring ropes were removed. Ian Johnson had already pumped out the Three Brothers and was rowing the dinghy back to the slip. We motored round the dredger and berthed by the first set of ladders on the south side of the chicken run and waited for Ian to join us after putting the dinghy away.

With all the crew on board we went back to the Three Brothers and measured the length of the main sail to see if it would fit in the museum. Mike Salisbury gave us the keys to the museum and we loaded the main sail onto the Gannet. We then motored around to the steps at the offshoot. The sail was unloaded and taken to the museum for safe keeping over the winter.

The Gannet was then taken for a short trip out in the bay before the crew practiced various manoeuvres within the harbour.

The Gannet was returned to its berth at 3.45pm

Cold but enjoyable. If any member would like to be involved, the next maintenance on the water will be 10.00 am Sunday, 2nd December. Weather permitting!

Maintenance crew: Ian Johnson, Albert Brownhill, Frank Bull, Jack and Ian Thompson.
