As usual Ian Johnson was preparing the Three Brothers when Jack and I arrived at 9.30 am. The large jib sail was set and the main positioned while we waited for the Pirate Ship to tow us out of the harbour at 10.00 am. The main sail was set, as on the previous sail, with just one reef. The bowsprit was positioned after the tow was dropped near the sailing buoy no.7.The jib was raised, then lowered to remove a snag then raised again. The main sail was raised and a course set towards the south outfall buoy.

A steady wind meant that bubbles were soon streaming out behind the Three Brothers as we exceeded three knots. We passed the outfall buoy on the seaward side and after a further 10 minutes of sailing southwards we turned to face the land. We rounded the outfall buoy and headed northwards through the racing yachts to the edge of the windsurfers course.

We turned near the Expanse and made our way back towards the south outfall buoy. The bubbles continued to stream behind us as we made another turn around the buoy and headed back towards the harbour entrance.

The wind eased as we approached the harbour making the bubbles disappear as we decelerated. After entering the harbour we turned towards our berth but the wind increased again, forcing us towards the Pirate boat's landing berth. We dropped the sails and eased our way to the landing stage.

The Pirate boat towed us back to our berth in between his passenger trips.

Crew members – Ian Johnson, Mike Salisbury, Paul Russell, Teresa Felton, Albert Brownhill, Jack and Ian Thompson.
